Dermal Fillers

Perfect for patients wanting to restore volume lost due to ageing, define thin lips or to create a stand-out smile without the need for lip liner, lip fillers can restore or enhance the shape and volume of your lips.

To enhance the lips we use dermal fillers, some of the most popular are Restylane and Juvederm, of which are made using hyaluronic acid. We have hyaluronic acid in our bodies already. It gives our skin the elasticity and plumpness that gives us our youthful appearance. Both fillers are produced as a gel and neither of them contain animal or human DNA which means it is one of the safest fillers on the market today.

Dermal Filler FAQs

WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE? WILL IT HURT?

Firstly we apply an anaesthetic, which is a strong numbing cream, which we leave on for around 10-15 minutes. The lip area is sensitive and we want you to feel comfortable throughout the procedure.

The fillers are then injected into the appropriate areas and massaged to provide the natural look you require. The appointment normally takes around 30 minutes in total.

HOW LONG DO THE FILLERS LAST?

Your newly plump lips will normally last between 6-12 months. Although this can vary depending on several factors including age, metabolism, level of exercise, alcohol intake and lifestyle.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

If you are suffering from cold sores, the treatment may give you another outbreak. However, you can use your usual medication to treat them. There will be a small amount of swelling initially but this usually subsides within 48 hours.

There might also be some bruising where the injection was given and it may be slightly painful or itchy. However, the discomfort should only last a few days. If you’re worried about after effects come and talk to us and we will advise you.

POST TREATMENT

We always suggest that you avoid touching or applying makeup to the treated area for 6 hours in order to prevent infection.

Further specific post treatment instructions will be discussed in depth with you on the day of your treatment.

WHAT IS CHEEK ENHANCEMENT?

Dermal fillers can be used to give a more defined and pronounced cheekbone appearance. This is achieved by injecting dermal filler along the contour of the cheekbone until desired outcome is achieved.

Dermal fillers can also be used to improve the appearance of cheeks that have become sunken or hollow, or have begun to sag with age.

Rebecca is trained and qualified in the use of cannulas for a safer and less painful alternative with less downtime, bruising and trauma, and only one injection site.

WHAT IS JAW SCULPTING

There are many reasons to undergo jaw enhancement. Enhancing the jaw line with dermal filler injections can give you a more youthful appearance by filling in loose skin.

By smoothing the contours of the jaw, it increases the definition of this area. Jaw enhancement can also decrease the appearance of jowls, or hanging folds of fat and skin drooping beneath the jawline.

Dermal fillers help anyone who wants to reshape, contour, and tighten the look of their jawline without surgery and its associated costs and recovery time.

WHAT IS CHIN ENHANCEMENT?

A number of patients desire improvement in the appearance of a poorly defined, under projected chin. A strong chin can help add definition and balance to the other facial features.

Dermal fillers can be injected into the chin to lengthen it to achieve the perfect proportion. It can also move the chin forwards or downwards to create the perfect ratio between the nose, lips and chin.
